How much do you and your drivers know about the effects of alcohol and drugs? The answer is probably not enough! Written specifically for bus and coach drivers and operators but equally useful for LGV training.

Written and devised by Alec Horner CMIOSH, CMILT

Format: A5 Booklet.

How much do you and your drivers know about the effects of alcohol and drugs The answer is probably not enough! At a recent CPT Coaching Conference around 80 managers and proprietors were asked to complete a simple alcohol and drugs questionnaire. How many got all ten questions correct NONE!

If managers don t know the answers, how much do drivers know about the effects of alcohol and drugs The answer is probably not as much as they should! Few drivers deliberately report for work under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If they fail a breathalyser or drugs test, it is usually because of ignorance and a lack of understanding as to how alcohol is processed by the body and what effect prescribed and over the counter drugs can have on driving impairment.

What is the cost of replacing a driver or other employee What is the cost of an incident involving an employee unfit for work due to alcohol or drug impairment Your business could face the prospect of prosecution and all the associated bad publicity. As part of any effective alcohol and drugs policy there should be education and staff training, not just for drivers, but all members of staff.

This booklet not only has a before and after test of knowledge but a signed training record, which is removed and kept on the employee's staff file as evidence of understanding and training.

This booklet explains the effects of alcohol and drugs in terms that drivers can understand and carries the Plain English Society's Crystal Mark

Produced in association with 'Minimise your Risk'
